OptOutByDomain.com FAQs

How does the list work?

Something had to be done
to stop the rampant harvesting and mis-use of the email addresses contained on our web sites, in domain registrar’s databases and other places email addresses are routinely hijacked.

CAN-SPAM requires “convenient opt-out”
but so far marketers have been unwilling or unable to allow the owners of domain names the ability to opt out all of his or her email addresses at once. This is where OptOutByDomain.com comes in. We provide the convenience of opting out your entire domain name at once.

How will we enforce it?
by working closely with www.SUEaSpammer.com we will vigorously pursue anyone that doesn’t honor these very public, very easily obtainable opt out requests. This list is a legitimate means to tell the entire universe that you no longer wish to receive email offers at your domain.

Who are we?
www.OptOutByDomain.com is a group of volunteers comprised mostly ISPs and other IT professionals. We intend to go after any email marketer that, after fair warning, continues to violate our opt-out rights under CAN-SPAM.

While OptOutByDomain.com is not run by the government and is not an official opt out site of any government or government agency, it is the very first and only web site where you can opt out your entire domain with one simple and convenient opt-out request.

Who we aren’t
www.OptOutByDomain.com is not engaged in the selling, trading, leasing, giving or otherwise disposing of email addresses other than “honeypot” addresses that have been supplied to us for this express purpose.

While OptOutByDomain.com is not run by the government and is not an official opt out site of any government or government agency, it is the very first and only web site where you can opt out your entire domain with one simple and convenient opt-out request.

How it works
www.OptOutByDomain.com allows you to opt out your entire domain at once instead of opting out one email address after another after another one by one by one by one...

You specify an entire domain to OPT OUT. Under the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, emailers are forced to comply with your request. If they don’t, we want to know so we can take action against them.
